Fred’s take on the week that was
The Working Press May 18th, 2009Technical difficulties plagued our site all last week so there is a bit we would like to catch up on.
Christie sounding Nixonian
“I think my background and my personality fit these times,” Christie said later in an interview. “I don’t really care about being popular. I care much more about being respected.” Yikes!

Told you so
First let us gloat for a moment. We told you that Jerrimiah Healy would be re-elected without a run off in Jersey City. Cash plus Obama plus incumbency equals victory.
Told you so, part II
About a week ago, Art Gallagher at MoreMonmouthMusing plugged THE STATE (Thanks Art!). Part of that plug cited our About Us page, where we contended that Art Gallagher was driving the agenda at the Asbury Park Press.
Now, because we pay attention to detail, we caught MoreMonmouthMusings breaking the news on former NJ Assemblyman Mike Panter soliciting tax appeal work where his law partner sits on the Monmouth County Board of Taxation. It was a great bit of reporting on a clear conflict of interest, and we included it in a brief on THE STATE of New Jersey
Now, According to Art, “The Asbury Park Press picked up the story of this obvious conflict, which was first raised here at MMM last week.”
Tax Board Conflict likely to continue.
Thus we were 100% correct when we stated
Honestly, read Art Gallagher for a while then wait a few days and you’ll read strikingly similar sentiments in the Press.
