News that only Alfred P. Doblin could miss
The Working Press May 23rd, 2009The excerpt below is excellent example of why the traditional media, particularly print, here in New Jersey is dying.
In Saturday’s edition of The Record, staff writer Richard Cowen, in an article titled “Rumana camp fires back at rivals,” reports that challenger Anthony Rottino:
“… has tried to steal some of Rumana’s thunder on affordable housing by calling for the abolition of the state Council on Affordable Housing, which imposes low-income housing quotas on municipalities.”
Uh, Rumana’s thunder? Mr. Cowen is either hopelessly ill-informed (likely), hopelessly biased (also likely), or some combination thereof (most likely), because Scott Rumana is a supporter of low-income housing.
Rumana is the primary sponsor of Assembly bill A.3246, which requires NJ Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency to create programs to assist municipalities in purchasing foreclosed properties for affordable housing use.
Since foreclosures are increasing, the number of low income housing units created under this bill would increase. In New Jersey this bill would be considered supporting low income housing. Only in the Columbia Heights section of Brooklyn could this bill be considered something else.
Furthermore, the article in question can only be described as a gift for Rumana from his longtime political ally, Alfred P. Doblin. Rumana’s campaign has been rocked in recent weeks by revelations The Record has conveniently chosen to ignore such as Rumana’s connections to several convicted felons who have been vilified by The Record.
A little more than a week after Rumana attempted to intimidate this website with the following letter, Rumana’s campaign was hit with a restraining order preventing him from spreading further lies about his opponents.
When it comes to low income housing, Rumana has been lying about his opponents’ records as well as his own. A judge says so. That is the real news here and only Richard Cowen and Alfred P. Doblin could miss that!
