The Stone Zone in Essex County
Fred Driscoll February 22nd, 2010Did anyone hear Roger Stone on the “Bob Grant Show” Sunday? It was a privilege to hear the self described “GOP hitman” and anti-Hillary PAC Citizens United Not Timid (get the joke?) founder on the conservative poobah’s air waves.
Stone, “Keeper of the Nixon Flame,” popped up in Albany as State Senator and Former Majority Leader Joe Bruno aide the year prior to Bruno’s indictment when Stone was accused of threatening Elliot Spitzer’s father with an expletive-laden voicemail. Stone is also rumored to have been a vital part of Reverend Al Sharpton’s 2004 Presidential campaign.
Don’t get us wrong, we love Stone and try to live by his rules. As a former Governor, Stone’s Rules were the secret to our success.
What we found interesting was Stone’s shout out to his long time friend and rumored secret business partner, State Senator Kevin O’Toole. Stone and O’Toole are so tight that Stone has headlined Kevin O’Toole fundraisers in the past. Fascinating.
*Note – THE STATE contributors are currently researching legislative opposition to Christie’s proposed budget cuts.
