Jersey Goes Tomato Red in 2009
Fred Driscoll March 5th, 2010The Save Jersey Blog points out to us what happens when elected officials fail to listen to their constituents.
As the 2009 Gubernatorial Election Result by Municipality Map illustrates, New Jersey can turn as red as its signature tomatoes when the proper incentive is applied.

The worst part about this map is the horrible performance DeCroce did to get Assemblymen elected. Look at the regions Christie carried and tell me why the GOP didn’t win seats in 2009.
The other thing about this map is that the newly-red tows are historically strong Republicans districts. Middlesex and Bergen Counties in particular – areas with fewer urban and therefore traditionally Democratic voters – made staggering gains in 2009. These voters are not necessarily Democrats.
The suburban residents of Middlesex and Bergen are not Democratic consitutants. They simply vote Democrat because the New Jersey GOP features a cast of unimpressive and lackluster leaders. Really…I mean who really gets excited about Sen. Tom Kean and Assm. Alex DeCroce?
When someone comes along like Chris Christie, promising to bring Jersey tough back to Jersey, folk return to their roots.
