Here's a Staten Island Congressman who was caught using Bergen County Clerk Kathe Donovan's 1996 campaign playbook. McMahon Campaign Hits Grimm For Taking 'Jewish Money' The file, labeled "Grimm Jewish Money Q2," for the second quarter fundraising period, shows a list of over 80 names..." http://www.observer.com/2010/politics/mcmahon-campaign-hits-grimm-taking-jewish-money When we first learned of this race baiting attack, we at THESTATE couldn't help but recall the contentious 1996 campaign between Kathe Donovan and Steve Rothman for the NJ CD-16 House seat vacated by the soon to be Senator Robert "The Torch" Torricelli. During the closing months of the 1996 race, Donovan launched her "one of us" campaign against Rothman; her aim was to convince South Bergen voters - a largely white ethnic constituency - to support the Irish Donovan over the Jewish Rothman. Donovan’s "Last-minute pitch to white ethnics" received ample media coverage from the New Jersey press (although Republicans around the state remained mute on the issue). The New York Times even released an article publicizing her overtly racist advertisements. The article revealed that Donovan’s advertisement "extorts voters to ‘Vote Irish-Italian-German Pride" and proclaims: ‘Kathleen Donovan: She’s One of Us!’” ...
