State Sen Kevin O’Toole Complicit in Scott Rumana’s Sleazy Solar Scheme?

THESTATENJ has in its possession a letter from Gary Fechter of Princeton Energy Systems (also managing executive of Wayne Energy Corporation (WEC) – a post he received after issuing a favorable feasibility study of the WEC project. This letter is addressed to Larry Barth of the New Jersey Clean Energy Program asking for an additional extension on the Solar Electric Project Rebate Commitment. Of particular interest in this letter is the list of individuals who received carbon copies:

Assemblyman Scott Rumana, Chairman, Wayne Energy Corporation Martin Ludwig, Wayne Energy Corporation Robert Simpson, Wayne Energy Corporation Senator Kevin O’Toole, 40th Legislative District Bruce James, Freeholder Passaic County William Northgrave, Esq., McManimon & Scotland Noreen Giblin, Chief of Staff, New Jersey Board of Public Utilities Michael Winka, Director, Office of Clean Energy, NJ Board of Public Utilities

Inquiring minds want to know why Senator O’Toole is receiving copies of correspondence on a project that three separate state agencies have deemed as highly improper? Is he complicit? Could O’Toole, an environmental lawyer, have some substantial role in Rumana’s sleazy solar scheme? Is O’Toole sponsoring legislation to further enable Rumana’s seedy schemes? Could O’Toole – close to Jersey Democrats – be serving as a liaison between Rumana and the Democratic interests who hold the key to WEC’s future?

While “Brooklyn Al” Doblin’s bromance with Rumana continues, REAL news gathering organizations do the work Scott’s buddies just wont touch. Thank goodness, ladies and gentlemen, for News12 New Jersey’s Walt Kane who Thursday featured a hard hitting segment on Rumana’s sleazy scheme. Quite frankly, I, as a former governor of THESTATENJ, was getting lonely being the only guy covering the most under-reported North Jersey news story of the year. Kudos also to PolitickerNJ’s Darryl R. Isherwood who (though giving Rumana far too little credit) wrote up a solid piece, Rumana's Headache which was almost as entertaining as the comment flame war beneath his story. Watching the ridiculous pile-on of Governor Chris Christie over a single mistake in a 1,000-page application for President Obama's "Race to the Top" program, a mistake that would have been negligible if the NJEA had signed on to the application, would be funny if not so sad. Really Sheila Oliver? Legislative hearings? Really? I'm sure you never make mistakes (Gift Life of NY?). The apoplectic hysterics of the NJEA and their lackeys - people that have NEVER supported the plan and who had already KILLED a prior "Race to the Top" application (where was the outrage then?) - are almost too much to handle.
